Advocacy

Here at Exceptional Family Resource Center we are committed to making a difference in the lives of families and individuals with disabilities and/or special needs. We realize the importance of advocacy and that individual and community involvement can effect change and influence positive outcomes. Laws that govern the delivery of services, policy and practices change all the time. Often these services are affected by budget shortfalls and/or changes in the political climate. Below you will find links to advocacy and legislative websites. We encourage you to educate your local, state and federal representatives about issues important to your family and get involved in the process. Let our voices be heard.

The Department of Rehabilitation (DOR) will convene two public meetings and is inviting the public, particularly those who represent individuals, groups or agencies, who are impacted by the Department of Rehabilitation’s Vocational Rehabilitation Services, including Supported Employment Services, to provide public comment on the proposed 2014 State Plan. Two (2) statewide meetings will be held on April 10 and 18, 2013 via videoconference and teleconference at the following locations:
Wednesday, April 10, 2013 (1:00 pm – 4:00 pm): Sacramento, San Francisco, and Santa Rosa, CA
Thursday, April 18, 2013 (9:00 am – 12:00 pm): Sacramento, Anaheim, Los Angeles and Riverside, CA
